Since January 2020 we have a kestrel box on our premises, and with success! The kestrel is a beautiful bird of prey that is best known for its hunting method: it silently 'prays' in the air, searching for mice and other small prey.
Successful breeding cases
Our kestrels feel right at home here. In 2020 the first three young kestrels were ringed by the bird working group. In 2021 followed four youngsters, and in 2022 even five. A beautiful sign that these birds of prey have found their place here. In 2023 five young were raised again, and in 2024 broke a new record with no less than seven young kestrels – a remarkable result, as the nest average is usually between four and six.
